Ender 3 Fula-Bed

STEP 1

Removing The Glass Surface

First, remove the clips around the glass plate. These may take some force, but can just be pulled off.

After removing the clips, the glass bed is no longer constrained to the heater. You can remove it and store it somewhere safe for future use.

STEP 2

Undo the Bed Leveling Knobs

Unscrew the four-bed leveling knobs beneath the printing platform

Save the bed leveling knobs. You will need these later.

Step 3

Remove the Bed Screws and Springs

Remove the 4 bed leveling screws from the heater.

Remove the springs from beneath the bed. Make sure not to lose them as we'll need them for the new assembly.

The PCB heater is no longer constrained to the printer. You can just set it down on top of the Y-Axis bracket.

Attaching Flex Plate Pins

Be careful when dealing with the set screws, as they are extremely small, and can be hard to find if dropped. A spare is included in the bag as a precaution.

Grab two of the set screws from the included hardware bag.

Screw them into the shown small holes on the logo-facing side of the flex plate.

The bottom of the set screws are burred to prevent them from coming loose over time. Don't be afraid to use a little force when tightening.

Attach the Leveling Screws

Grab four of the M4 x 40mm screws included in the hardware bag. While the stock screws you removed earlier will work, we recommend replacing them with ours.

Thread them into where they slightly stick out the bottom of the Fula-Bed. Do not screw them in all the way.

Line up Fula-Bed

Lineup Fula-Bed on top of the existing mounting holes for the stock aluminum heater.

Tighten the Mounting Screws

Fully thread the mounting screws until they are flush or below the Fula-Bed surface.

Ensure that the mounting screws are tight, but do not overtighten. Overtightening may strip the threads from your Fula-Bed

Do not mount the Fula-Bed to your printer frame yet. This will be done in subsequent steps.

Lineup the springs we removed in step 3 on top of the holes in the mounting bracket.

Line up your Fula-Bed mounting screws with the springs and the bed mounting plate. This may take some wiggling, but the screws should lock into place.

Attaching the Leveling Knobs

Grab the leveling knobs that we saved from disassembly and screw them back onto the mounting screws in a diagonal pattern. Blue arrows first, then red.

Remember: righty tighty, lefty loosey :)

Tighten the knobs diagonally until the springs are fully compressed. This prevents your nozzle from crashing into the bed in later steps.

Remove the Protective Layer from Fula-Flex 2.0

Glossy Protective Plastic

Grab your Fula-Flex 2.0 plate and remove the protective plastic from the surface.

⚠️ Not all Fula-Flex 2.0 plates have a protective layer. We sometimes pull it off during quality control to check for defects.

An easy indication of whether your Fula-Flex 2.0 has a protective layer is the finish of the plate. If the plate is glossy, then the protective plastic is present. If matte, then you can skip this step as this is the bare PEI.

Line up the flex plate with the installed alignment pins. This will allow you to always properly align your flex plate

Slicer Setting Adjustments

Through hundreds of thousands of printing hours, our team has been able to dial in settings for our Fula-Flex 2.0 very well. Follow these slicer changes for optimal adhesion.

Change your slicer settings to the following: First Layer height: 0.30mm, First Layer Width: 125%, PLA Bed Temperature: 70°, PETG Bed Temperature: 90°

All available slicers will have these as editable settings.

Level the Bed and Start Printing!

⚠️ Make sure your springs are fully compressed before leveling to prevent damaging the PEI

First, re-level the bed with a cold nozzle and heat bed in case your nozzle crashes into the PEI.

After you have verified that the nozzle won't crash into the PEI, re-level at printing temperatures.
